Indian Students in Russia

The government of Russia has taken enormous step in providing the higher education accessible to the foreign students. The fees structure and the cost of living in Russia are comparatively less. Moreover, the admission procedure is simple and easy. As a result many Indian students pursue Medical and Technical education in Russia. Presently over 8000 Indian students are enrolled in various colleges and universities of Russia. Among them 99% of students are enrolled in medical college and pursue the study of medicine and surgery. The number of international students is rapidly increasing every year. As per the Government record it is seen that the demand of higher education in Russia is increased 10 fold due to Indian students.

More importantly the teachers of Russia are very cooperative and they understand that the students have come so far away from their home just for getting quality education. So they cooperate with the International students. Though for Indian students it is quite difficult to adjust with the cold climate but with time the Indian students gets adjusted with the climate. Moreover, the Russian language is not very difficult. The International students are allowed to study their course in Russia or English. Russian university also gives a parallel Russian language class for those who opt for English as a medium of study so that the International students can interact freely with their class mates and professors. Thus for Indian students it becomes easy to study in Russia.

The medical universities of Russia strictly prohibited ragging in the campus. Thus we can see a very few instance of racism, eve-teased or Indian students getting beaten in Russian college or universities.

Most of the university organizes excursion program every year. So the Indian students get the opportunity to visit other marvelous cities of Russia and know the historic and cultural importance of the place.

Because students from all over the world stay together in the same hostel and learns to adjust, share and care for each other. They get the opportunity to share and understand each other’s culture. As there are many Indian students in the same campus or hostel they also get the opportunity to celebrate the Indian festival such as Diwali, Navaratri, Baisakhi, etc. Indian students also take part in Russian festival like Maslenitsa, Den Pobedy, Women’s Day, Men’s Day, City Day, and Russian Christmas. Thus studying in Russia has a valuable experience for life.
